Chapter 1285 - Creating A Diversion

Chapter 1285: Creating A Diversion

“The path up the mountain?”

When everyone heard what Fearless said, they involuntarily turned to look into the direction of the mountain, only to see the Kyushu Squad having completed laying down their defensive line on the mountain peak.

In this battle, there were only four job classes in the team sent by Kyushu Squad. They comprised of three Archers, three Magicians, two Priests and two Warriors.

Pairing up the ranged classes with the defensive classes, without including any Controllers or Assassins, classes which were suited for ambushes, one look and anyone could tell that this composition was a defensive one.

It seemed like Kyushu Squad had steeled their hearts to defend the mountain peak, and had actually changed their usual attack and defense team composition.

The two players that were situated on the mountain path were the two Warriors Omnidirectional and All Encompassing. The both of them stood side by side, blocking over half of the mountain path.

The advantage that the Kyushu Squad had was their higher ground, allowing them to press down on Quan Zhen Sect. Currently, the narrow pathway was the only way up to the mountains, and thus, they had placed all of their manpower on it.

Given the damage output dished out by the three Archers and three Magicians, coupled with the support from the Priests, let alone a battle squad, such a formation is enough to block off hundreds of enemy players.

Boundless Ocean knew that he wasn’t Fearless match when it came to formulating battle strategies, and would most likely be taken advantage of it if that were the case. Thus, he had might as well adopted such a formation in order to counter them.

At the end of the day, there was only one pathway up the mountain. If the Team A Murder Of Crows wanted to push their way up the mountain, they would have to clash head-on with the Kyushu Squad.

In the event that a head-on collision were to occur, with the huge terrain advantage that the Kyushu Squad possessed, the members from the Team A Murder of Crows would not be able to climb ascend the mountain before getting eliminated.

Even though the players from Team A Murder of Crows weren’t as capable as the Kyushu Squad, they were experts in their own rights and thus, could naturally see through Boundless Ocean’s intentions.

Upon hearing what Fearless said, everyone couldn’t help but retort, “Take this path up? Are you asking all of us to deliver ourselves to die?”

“Hehe!”

Who would have thought that upon hearing this, Fearless evilly smiled and said, “The path in front of us isn’t the only path up.”

“Ohh?”

Upon hearing this, everyone hurriedly glanced at the minimap on the corner of their screens, before gloomily saying, “Isn’t there only one pathway in Overlooking Peak?”

Fearless fondled his chin as he cheekily smiled and said as-a-matter-of-factly, “Roads are formed after countless people have traversed them, they had never existed in the first place.”

Upon seeing Fearless still acting all mysterious and refusing to spill the beans to them, they all cried out in dissatisfaction, “Stop f*cking beating around the bush to help the author hit his word count, hurry up and spill it! Where exactly is this road?”

“Heng heng!” Fearless smiled and said, “Could all of you have forgotten that all of us can fly?”

“This...”

After getting reminded by Fearless, all of them suddenly came to a realisation.

Humans always tend to focus on the bad in every situation, overlooking the good in themselves.

Fretting over the one way up the mountain had caused all of them to forget that they possessed their capes.

“But...”

Spring Halo glanced at the Kyushu Squad situated on top of the mountain and said, “If we were to fly up like this, wouldn’t we easily become their targets?”

“This...”

Upon hearing Spring Halo’s doubts, the initially optimistic bunch instantly turned gloomy once more.

What Spring Halo said was right, even though the cape allowed the players to fly freely in the air, even adding a few points to their movement speed, their agility in the air definitely could not be compared with their agility on the ground.

It should be known that in a battle between experts, trying to switch positions to avoid an attack was an extremely difficult thing to do and heavily depended on one’s in-game abilities.

In the air, there were a lot of burst movement abilities that were unusable and there were a lot of restrictions too. The Kyushu Squad currently had six ranged job classes and were fully capable of launching aerial attacks. Even though they would be able to avoid the opponent’s formation, their ending would still be equally miserable and would probably be shot down by their opponent.

“That’s right!” Upon hearing Spring Halo’s doubts, Fearless nodded his head in satisfaction and said, “Of course we would become their targets, that’s why we need to first give them a target to distract their attention.”

“Creating a diversion?”

“En!” Fearless acknowledged and said, “As long as we leave a few players to attack up the mountain path, the rest can fly up the mountain from the sides.”

“Bullsh*t!” Vainglory rebutted, “Are they blind? They would definitely be able to tell that some of us are missing!”

“That’s a good question!”

Fearless pointed at the two Warriors blocking the pathway and said, “Do you see the people standing behind them?”

“F*ck...”

After glancing up the mountain, Vainglory became speechless.

As Tankers, Warriors naturally had very burly builds. With two Warriors blocking off the mountain path, it was difficult to see the players behind them.

Ming Du chipped in and said, “The enemy has the higher ground and naturally has a broader vision than us.”

“I know!” Fearless coolly looked at everyone before explaining, “Thus, we would need a few people with bigger builds to attract their firepower.”

As he was speaking, Fearless pointed towards Wang Yu and said, “Old Bull, Old Evil, Old Crotch, this difficult task will rest on your shoulders!”

Wang Yu was 1.86m tall and had a big stature. Crotch Lord was a Tank and could adjust his physical build, thus he was taller than Wang Yu by half a head. Additionally, the shield in his hand was over two metres tall, which was more than sufficient to completely block off any person standing behind it.

Even though Evil Rampage wasn’t as tall as the both of them, he was still broad... these three people were thus the players with the biggest builds in the team.

Of course, the physical build of the three was only one of the reasons why Fearless chose the three of them. He thoroughly thought this through before making this decision.

Not everyone could take up the mantle of acting as bait.

The players on top of the mountain were the top-tier experts in the country and were many times stronger than the past few opponents that they had faced. Furthermore, with Boundless Ocean’s suspecting character, if they were to only stand at the bottom of the mountain without exchanging blows with the members from Kyushu Squad, it would definitely arouse Boundless Ocean’s suspicion.

Thus, they had to clash with them in order to attract all of the Kyushu Squad’s attention over.

Given the advantage that the Kyushu Squad had, if it were somebody else, they would definitely not be able to last through the attacks. If the three baits were completely defeated after a wave of attacks, the ambush from behind would be pointless.

The capabilities of Wang Yu and his brother were without question. If the two of them were unable to take up this role, no one in Quan Zhen Sect had the qualifications to do so. On the other hand, Crotch Lord possessed the Shield of God and had another Magic Shield, and was thus able to hold his ground against a few waves of attacks from the Kyushu Squad. As long as they were able to hold their ground against the people at the top of the mountain, they would be able to buy sufficient time for the rest of them to fly up the mountain peak and carry out the ambush.

With regards to the three that Fearless had chosen, no one had any objections against it. After all, when it came to their own capabilities, everyone was well aware of where they stood. Furthermore, the role of a bait was to sacrifice himself. No one would fight over the other in order to take up such a role.

...

At this moment, Kyushu Squad had already set up their formation and were waiting for their opponents to face them. However, all they saw was the enemy squad, A Murder of Crows, idling at the bottom of the mountain. Omnidirectional, who was situated at the forefront of the formation, started becoming flustered and said, “What are the bunch of them doing? Why haven’t they come up yet?”

“Haha!”

All Encompassing laughed and said, “Surely they aren’t thinking of dragging the fight out with us.”

Dragging out the time was a shameless yet viable strategy in the tournament. Team A Murder of Crows had done this plenty of times throughout the tournament, thus it wasn’t impossible that they weren’t attempting it again.

“It’s fine if they are dragging things out!” Boundless Ocean frowned and said, “Now that the scores are the same, even if they were to drag this fight out, the score wouldn’t change. Now that we are on the defense, even if it becomes a tie, the overall champion will still be us. However, I’m afraid that this bunch of people will pull some stunt in the end.”
